Yo-Yo, did you hear about Benjamin Von Wong’s latest creation? Last week, he revealed a masterpiece commissioned by Greenpeace USA for their campaign “Change the Code, Not the Climate”. The whole shebang cost a whopping $5 million, thanks to the generous funding of Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen. The campaign’s goal is to save the environment by changing Bitcoin’s proof-of-work (PoW) consensus algorithm through a “code change”. Apparently, PoW uses up a lot of energy, unlike other consensus algorithms. And we all know that too much energy usage is EVIL. Muhahaha! Nobody has the moral highground on this matter and can decide what constitutes too much, bad energy usage.
What Green R.I.P does not realize is that changing PoW into PoS, means it will not be a consensus algorithm anymore. Bitcoin would turn into a centralized piece of garbage. No thanks!
